Service Description

Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing) Scaling and root planing, commonly known as a deep cleaning, is a nonsurgical periodontal treatment used to manage gum disease. During this procedure, your Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) carefully removes plaque (biofilm), tartar (hardened deposits), and bacterial buildup from above and below the gumline. The root surfaces may also be smoothed to help reduce the accumulation of bacteria and support gum healing. The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation, control the bacterial buildup associated with gum disease, and help your gums heal. Depending on the severity of your condition, additional periodontal maintenance and follow-up evaluations may be recommended to help maintain your oral health.
