Periodontal Maintenance
This Service is to Maintain Bacteria at Bay after a Deep Cleaning (Recommended)
Service Description
Periodontal Maintenance Periodontal maintenance helps manage gum disease and reduce the risk of its progression after periodontal treatment. Regular follow-up visits are important because plaque (biofilm) and tartar (hardened deposits) can accumulate again over time. Your Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) will assess your gum health, monitor periodontal pocket measurements as appropriate, and carefully remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gumline. When clinically indicated, additional measures, such as antimicrobial irrigation, may be used as part of your periodontal care. These visits help control inflammation, maintain gum health, and support the long-term stability of your teeth and surrounding tissues. Periodontal maintenance is commonly recommended every three to four months, depending on your periodontal condition and individual needs.
